Narnia School of Irish Dancing

The Narnia School of Irish Dancing was the first school to offer instruction in Irish dancing in Kiev, Ukraine.

School director is Victor Bidnyi - a professional dancer and teacher, as well as the winner of numerous international dance competitions and festivals. He learned Irish dancing from the very best in the field: famous Riverdance performer Colin Dunne, WIDA founder Sean Gavan, one of the best Irish dance teachers David James, and many other sources. Being a professional dancer, Victor masters various traditional and show styles (modern, jazz, cramp, tectonic, disco, techno, contemporary, hiphop, folk, and flamenko), often combining them with Irish dance. You can watch Victor Bidnyi's original choreography in the dances of the the Narnia group here.

The school has two teachers - Victor Bidnyi and Iryna Volodarska - both of whom have achieved the "T" stage of the TCRG exams. In addition, Miss Volodarska has become the first teacher in Ukraine who has passed her third TMRF exam, thus becoming a ceili teacher.

The Narnia School of Irish Dancing is a member of the World Irish Dance Association (WIDA).

Every student of the school competes in WIDA local feisana and international oireachtasai. These competitions consist of several stages: Beginner, Primary, Intermediate and Open. Most of our students have reached the Intermediate level in their solo dances, while 3 students have already reached the Open level. Apart from solo dances, Narnia also competes in Figure and Ceili competitions, having so far achieved silver in this category. In Premierships, Narnia has collected whole sets of gold, silver and bronze trophies. In 2009, we begin to compete in Open Championships, too.
